I attempted to start a blog approximately 435,045 times before feeling like I actually got it right. I knew there were plenty of books to read and research to be done, but they always seemed to be about increasing traffic, how to sell your self-published book, offering consulting services, etc, etc, etc. It all felt so overwhelming, especially when I couldn’t even figure out why there were two WordPress sites and which one I should use. (Side note – skip them both for now and link up directly with WP once you set up a BlueHost account). I figured I would just get started on my own and go from there. However, every time I got started I would end of frustrated, completely stuck, and ultimately give up. Through my years of trial and error (I started my first blog when my daughter was born, 7 years ago), I was finally able to boil it down to 7 easy-peasy (haha, get it? groan…) steps. After you get through these 7 easy steps to starting a blog, you are up and running and in a much better place to start reading the books about getting traffic, making money, quitting your full-time job and making $3.6 billion a year (totally reasonable, right?).
